Barcelona experiences a failure like never before
Barcelona experienced possibly the worst night in club history, losing a 4-1 first-leg advantage to be dumped from the Champions League by AS Roma.
Everything is silent in Barcelona. The club, the players, the fans, everything remains still. A team that converted into one of the best defensive sides in the world, that remained unbeaten in Europe and in the domestic league and that continuously showered their opponents with goals in every single match have been left in the dark in absolute embarrassment. Despite their 4-1 advantage from the first leg at the Camp Nou and their good form, the Blaugrana were eliminated from the Champions League after a 3-0 defeat at Roma. The away goals tiebreaker came into play after Edin Dzeko scored late in the first leg.
Nothing can console this painful and heart-wrenching defeat, not La Liga nor the Copa del Rey title. Failing to reach the Champions League semifinals for the third year in a row is an absolute disgrace for a team that possesses some of the greatest players in the world including the best to ever grace the pitch, Lionel Messi. But the reality is that Barcelona flopped again at this stage of the tournament and they did it in an unforgiving way.
