Chongqing Dangdai Lifan have announced that they are not going to try to sign Andrés Iniesta. The legend has inked a business deal with the Chinese club, but he is not going to sign a contract with them, as a player.

But Iniesta is still moving away from the Camp Nou at the end of the season. The 33-year old is not going to move to a team in Europe, having promised the fans never to face Barcelona in his playing career.

And now, rumours linking him with a move to Japan have emerged. According to Cadena SER, Barça sponsor Rakuten’s CEO Hiroshi Mikitani, has mediated in negotiations between Iniesta’s representatives and Vissel Kobe, a reputed Japanese club.

The report states that Vissel Kobe shall sign a tie-up deal with Iniesta’s wine company, Bodega Iniesta, while Iniesta shall earn around €25 million per annum, with taking on the addition role of heading their youth academy.

Reportedly, the club has helped him to choose his next and possibly final destination. But if he does move to Vissel Kobe, he will not play at a very low level in the pretext of ‘promoting football’. Vissel Kobe competes for the J1 League title every season, with Lukas Podolski leading the line.

If he joins, Iniesta will sign a three-year contract. After his contract expires, the legend can consider undergoing training to gain a coaching license so that he can become part of the staff at Barça.
