Barcelona have expanded their scouting network in England
When Marcus McGuane signed on the dotted lines at Barcelona, he became the first English player since Gary Lineker to play for Barcelona. This signing showed that the club had expanded their scouting network in England.
And now, further proof has been found to prove this fact. The club is being linked with a move for Tottenham youngster Reo Griffiths, who has been been a revelation for Spurs’ Under-18 side, scoring 34 goals this season.

His best performance came in a 9-0 demolition of London rivals Arsenal, when he scored 4 goals and set up 3 others. Easily, he has been the best player in the Under-18 Premier League this season.
Barcelona’s interest is a response to Tottenham’s pursuit of La Masia graduate Riqui Puig, who has a lot of potential and was set to be promoted to the B team. But more importantly, it is due to a lack of attacking talent from La Masia.
The youth academy has never been the best producer of attacking talent, focusing on technical attributes. And Griffiths, who will turn 18, would boost the B team considerably. The highest scorer for Barcelona B has been Carles Aleñá, who is a midfielder.
Griffiths will turn 18 on 27th June, and will be eligible to sign a contract at Barça , with Barça having to pay a negligible compensation fee to Tottenham. Here, the club has an advantage since it does not play in the Premier League.

The club officials should get in touch with Griffiths’ representatives soon, before any other club swoops in and signs the talented young forward.
