Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeneß and new manager Niko Kovač have had their first meeting, and they have decided to restructure the team. Bayern will let go of some big names, including Arturo Vidal and Jérôme Boateng.

But the player that will interest Barcelona is Thiago. The playmaker left Barça as a 22-year old after being denied a first-team spot due to the presence of Andrés Iniesta and the signing of Cesc Fàbregas.

More from Everything Barca

Pep Guardiola moulded him into a world-class player at the Allianz Arena. But since his departure, Thiago has been unsettled at Bayern. His level of performance has not dropped, but he has not been comfortable playing under Carlo Ancelotti and Jupp Heynckes.

Now that he has been transfer listed by Niko Kovač, Barça might consider going in for the 27-year old La Masia graduate. He is a complete package, with a high work rate, and is a brilliant passer of the ball.

This is a golden opportunity for the club. Barcelona scouts have been monitoring his progress at Bayern ever since he broke into the first-team under Pep Guardiola. Thiago is the perfect player for the club, and he might fill the void left by Xavi.

But Thiago will not be inexpensive. Bayern are unlikely to let him go for any less than €50 million. Nonetheless, the Spaniard will be worth every penny spent on him. The management should hold Arthur’s signing in order to facilitate Thiago’s arrival.
