After the golden generation of La Masia graduates broke into the Barça first-team, La Masia hasn’t produced any star player. But that may not be the case for the next generation of youth footballers to graduate from La Masia.
Last season, Xavi García Pimienta led the Juvenil A team to victory in the UEFA Youth League. Then, after Gerard López was fired following a string of poor performances, he was promoted to head coach of Barcelona B. He was unable to keep the B team from relegation, but is going to build a squad revolving around the youth stars next season.

The club is intent on promoting this youth project, and making the most out of the talented players who led the club to its 2nd Youth League title. Barça have already announced that it will be retaining several key players from the UEFA Youth League campaign.
Despite interest from the Premier League, midfield partners Riqui Puig and Monchu have agreed on new deals with the club, and have accepted a promotion to the B team. The latest player to be awarded an extension is central defender Chumi.
The 19-year old centre-back, along with several others like, Alejandro Marqués and Carles Pérez was crucial as Barça Juvenil A beat Chelsea in the final of the Youth League. The club has confirmed that Chumi has signed a professional contract till 2020, with a release clause of €100 million.
