Arsenal have already signed three new players for next season. And now, the duo of Unai Emery and Sven Mislintat have set their eyes on André Gomes, who is being linked with a move away from Barcelona this summer.

The 24-year old Portuguese playmaker has been marginalised at the Camp Nou and has finally understood that he does not have a future at the club. He wants an exit, and there are many clubs across Europe willing to oblige him, including Tottenham and West Ham.

Now that Arsenal have entered the fray, the race for his signature is going to heat up. André Gomes’ former club Valencia has already expressed interest in him, while the other London clubs have revived their interest from last season.

At Arsenal, the Portuguese midfielder will have a lot of competition. Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaxa are well-established in the first-team and are bankable players. 22-year old Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira is set to arrive from Sampdoria, and that also adds to the competition.

But André Gomes has the ability to shine in the Premier League. If he can replicate his form for Valencia, he can be a huge success in the most competitive league in the world. His primary competitor in the Arsenal first-team would be Granit Xhaxa, who was inconsistent last season.

The club should demand a fee such that it gets a return on its investment. André Gomes was signed from Valencia for around €35 million, and the club should demand a fee in that region.
