Éric Abidal is negotiating with Munir’s representatives over a new deal
Munir scored once in pre-season, and showed that he could be an asset for the team. The young forward does have the ability to do well in the La Liga, and he could act as a replacement for the departing Paco Alcácer, thereby becoming Luis Suárez’s backup for the season.
Munir’s contract expires at the end of the season. He signed his last contract in Luis Enrique’s second season in charge, and was expected to leave the club at the end of the season. But now, the management has made an U-turn by offering him a new contract.

Éric Abidal is in negotiations with Munir’s representatives over a new 4-year contract, extending his stay at the club till 2023. An agreement has not been struck yet, but it is imminent, considering that a speedy negotiator like Abidal is representing the club.
But in order to do well at Barcelona, Munir needs to adapt his game. He was way too selfish in pre-season, choosing to shoot from outside the box when there were players in better positions than him to score.
The 22-year old centre forward needs to learn to work with his teammates, and set up others. He must also strike an understanding with Lionel Messi, which Paco Alcácer was unable to do. The youngster has the talent, but he needs to execute it in order to reach his potential.
For now, Munir should sign the new deal and then focus on scoring goals in the Copa del Rey and impressing in appearances off the bench.
