Barcelona signed Ousmane Dembélé because he was one of the dribblers in the world, pacy and could potentially become a two-footed player. Initially, he was not the perfect replacement for Neymar, who had become one of the best players in the world when he left the club.

But the young Frenchman has grown as a player, and improved significantly in his time under Ernesto Valverde. But unfortunately, Dembélé’s strengths are also turning out to be his weaknesses, making him frustrating to watch sometimes.

Ousmane Dembélé is a brilliant dribbler. He can twist and turn past any defender, giving he has space and time. But he is so indecisive that the opposition defender can tackle him easily. This flaw in his game was easily noticeable in the match against Real Sociedad.

The 21-year old forward is also indecisive when it comes to the usage of his feet. When he plays on the left, he is supposed to cut in from the inside with his right foot. But he looks uncomfortable doing that, and when on the right, he wants to run up and down the flank and cross it in.

Dembélé needs to conform to the tactical setup and use whatever foot is required in the situation. He also needs to work on his turns of pace, while is sorely lacking in his game. At the moment, Dembélé is there in the first-team because of his ability to produce magical moments.

But if he wants to fulfill his huge potential, the youngster needs to start being more consistent. He is getting the goals, standing joint second in the La Liga top scorers list with 3 goals in 4 appearances, but he needs to back up the goals with performances.
