Ousmane Dembélé is scoring goals, but he has been very poor

Last season, Luis Suárez was criticised because he was performing poorly for Barcelona on a consistent basis despite scoring goals regularly. This season, the case is same for Ousmane Dembélé. But while Suárez came under fire, Dembélé is being hailed.

The club wants Ousmane Dembélé to do well in order to grow. The statistics show that he is progressing, but his showing on the pitch suggests otherwise. He fails in almost all take-ons, is not able to link up with Jordi Alba and is indecisive on the ball.

The 21-year old French forward has scored 4 goals in 5 appearances this season, but Dembélé cannot be credited for any of his strikes. They have been easy finishers, which any player could have swept home.

We are looking at what we want to be true, but not what is. We did not want Luis Suárez to do well because he was getting older. We want Dembélé to do well because he is young and has a lot of potential.

As of this moment, Ousmane Dembélé is not contributing to the team. He is grabbing goals for himself and that will build his confidence but he needs to start linking up with his teammates. He needs to get some assists under his belt.

Dembélé also needs to be decisive in crucial situations. He has the ability to create some brilliant moments with his immaculate footwork, but those moments are too less in number and too far in between.
