Conclusion

Obviously, the best option for Barcelona is to promote from within, to cultivate talent from La Masia. But to the eyes of Ernesto Valverde, Juan Miranda is not ready to take on a permanent spot in the first-team squad.

And with Thomas Vermaelen too slow to act as an efficient full-back, the club needs to sign someone. It is clear that Álex Grimaldo is the best option available to Éric Abidal right now, despite his price tag.

The club can also go for players like Alex Telles, but Grimaldo would be a relatively economical option. If Abidal fails to sign the La Masia graduate, there are always other options like Toni Lato and Marcelo Saracchi.
