Sevilla youngster José Lara attracts interest from Barcelona
Barcelona are one of the club trying to sign Sevilla Atlético’s José Lara
The Sevilla youth academy is famous for churning out quality wingers, with the best examples being José Antonio Reyes and Jesús Navas. The latest young winger to attract attention is 18-year old left winger José Lara. Barcelona are interested in signing him.
Lara’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he has already rejected several contract offers from Sevilla. Till date, he has made 37 appearances for Sevilla Atlético and the Rojiblancos’ Under-19 team, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists.

Last season, caretaker manager Joaquín Caparrós gave him his debut for the Sevilla senior team, as he replaced Nolito in a 1-0 victory over Alavés. Since then, he has been not been called up to the first-team squad. But Lara has continued to develop in the reserve team.
This season, the 18-year old attacker has had a lack of minutes due to a knee injury. But he is going to leave Sevilla in the summer transfer. The club is looking to rope him in because of his potential. Also, La Masia has not produced some good wingers since Gerard Deulofeu.
José Lara belongs to the same generation of footballers as Barça B’s Riqui Puig, Juan Miranda and Abel Ruiz. He could adapt easily to the Barça style of play, and already knows some of his national teammates.

Of course, Éric Abidal would need to negotiate a compensation package with Sevilla, which is a development fee. It is going to be minimal, but if José Lara can realise his potential, he can have a very bright future at Barcelona.
