Malcom has seen his opportunities limited in his first season at the club which has got other teams interested.

Barcelona created a storm in the summer with their signing of Malcom from under the noses of Roma, which was naturally linked to the humiliating loss to the Italian side in the Champions League quarter-finals earlier in the season. He was brought in to provide competition for Ousmane Dembele, but the French winger’s form, as well as the strong competition for places in the forward line, has seen the Brazilian lose out.

According to the Daily Star, Tottenham are the latest side to show interest in Malcom, although they only want a loan deal. Spurs didn’t make any signings in the summer and Mauricio Pochettino is having to rely on youngsters to fill the gaps due to the injuries in the squad, however, midfield reinforcements are a much bigger need than forwards. Son Heung-Min is currently away playing for South Korea in the Asian Cup and Harry Kane is sidelined due to injury, but neither is unavailable for the long-term.

The Catalans are unlikely to accept a loan deal because Malcom can still fill a role in the team so a permanent transfer in which they try to recoup as much of the fee as possible is likely to be the only way he will leave the club in this window or the next. However, that would be a huge waste as he has shown flashes of his potential when given opportunities such as the goal against Internazionale on his Champions League debut.

A total of 363 minutes in all competitions is nowhere near enough to judge him on especially considering he has scored two goals in that time. Barca also need depth in the forward positions in order to ensure that the key players stay fresh and Malcom has shown the right attitude in this regard because he is always willing to make use of any opportunity he is given. A move in the January transfer window shouldn’t be considered regardless.
