Barcelona have finally reached an agreement with Arsenal

After extensive negotiations spread over a month, Barcelona and Arsenal have finally reached a consensus over the transfer of Denis Suárez. The 25-year old Manchester City youth academy graduate will be returning to England on a temporary basis in a loan deal.

Earlier, Barça were sticking out for a loan till the end of the season, for a fee of €2.5 million, with a compulsory option to make the move permanent for €20 million. But due to financial constraints, Arsenal were reluctant to match Barça’s demands.

Now, the club has had to compromise to suit the Gunners. It will be a loan till the end of the season, for €2.5 million. But there is no option to make the transfer permanent. Nevertheless, this move will be good for Denis Suárez’s career, which has become stagnant in recent times.

The young Spanish playmaker has made just 8 appearances in all competitions this season, making just 4 starts, all of them coming in the Copa del Rey. Denis Suárez’s development had been hindered by the arrival of Philippe Coutinho, and was worsened by the signing of Arthur.

But the new deal also opens up an interesting prospect for the club. Barça’s current asking price is €20 million. Depending on Denis’ performances at Arsenal under former manager Unai Emery, it can increase, in turn, increasing profitability.
