Denis Suárez has left Barcelona to join Arsenal on loan

After long-term negotiations and one major disagreement, Barcelona and Arsenal have finally reach an agreement over the transfer of Denis Suárez. The 25-year old Spanish playmaker will join the Gunners on loan till the end of the season, with an option to make the move permanent.

Earlier, Arsenal were holding out for no such option. On the other hand, Barça were demanding a mandatory option to purchase. But a compromise has been reached, with a non-compulsory option to make the loan move permanent for a fee in the region of €25 million.

Due to this change in the deal, Denis Suárez has penned an extension till 2021. If Arsenal choose not to sign him permanently, his market value would reduce considerably in the summer because his contract would expire the following summer. But now, that is not going to happen.

Barça will gain a big profit on Denis Suárez, in all possible circumstances. If Arsenal do activate the option, the club will pocket a profit of around €20 million. If not, his future fee will be dictated by his performances at the Emirates under former manager Unai Emery.

The squad will have five midfielders once Denis leaves. Ernesto Valverde will easily make do till the end of the season, with the incredible stamina of Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitić. Also, Carles Aleñá’s emergence will lead to the La Masia graduate getting more playing time.

Moreover, Frenkie de Jong will be joining in the summer, further reinforcing the midfield. So, Denis Suárez will not be missed.
