Barcelona: New signing Gabriel Novaes’ loan to Nastić falls through
Barcelona’s latest signing Gabriel Novaes was to join Nastić on loan
The problem with the registration rules of the Segunda División B has already affected Barcelona B once already. Summer signing Moussa Wagué could not make his debut till November due to these bureaucratic problems, caused by his African origin.
In order to prevent such a thing from happening yet again, Barça wanted to loan new signing Gabriel Novaes to Segunda División club Nastić till the end of the season. Then, the young Brazilian centre-forward could easily get a work permit in the summer.

The São Paulo youth academy graduate could have gained valuable experience in Spanish football, before trying to make his mark at the Mini Estadi. But the loan to Nastić has fallen through, shortly after the end of the January transfer window.
Now, Novaes is set to be on the sidelines till April, when he will be allowed to take the field for Barça B. This is a huge disappointment, both for the club and the player. The 19-year old striker is a very exciting prospect, and such a long time off the pitch will only hinder his development.
Novaes is the player that Barça will be counting on for the distant future. La Masia graduate Abel Ruiz has not been very prolific for Barça B, despite shining for Spain at various youth levels. It remains to be seen whether Novaes can do better than his Spanish counterpart.
Nevertheless, Gabriel Novaes is a great capture for the club. But Barça have failed in regard with maximising the playing time of Novaes.
