Lyon demand €35 million for Barcelona target Ferland Mendy
Barcelona now know that Ferland Mendy is not going to come cheap
The left-back problem currently is looking more dangerous than ever before. Without Jordi Alba, Barcelona are struggling and the opposition has the opportunity to exploit the right flank. So, Marc Cucurella may not be good enough to cover for his fellow La Masia graduate.
Therefore, Barça are going after Lyon left-back Ferland Mendy. The 23-year old former Le Havre full-back starred in last season’s UNFP Team of the Year, and received his maiden France call-up as a result. He is one of the best full-backs in Europe, but will not come cheap.

Lyon have already been made to rue their decision to offload Samuel Umtiti to Barça earlier. The French centre-back had always been highly rated, but his performances showed that a €25 million fee was a huge cut-price deal. Now, they will not repeat that mistake with one of their youngsters.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is demanding between €35 million and €40 million for Ferland Mendy. Considering the potential of the starlet, Barça should ideally pay that amount. After all, Mendy is perfectly suited to the Barça style of play.
He possesses a lot of pace, and is very attacking in his approach to the game. Mendy is also a brilliant passer of the ball, and is a great dribbler. His crossing might be a bit lacking, but Ernesto Valverde usually does not instruct to cross the ball in in situations from open play.
