Barcelona star Ivan Rakitić has new suitor in Bayern Munich
Bayern have shown interest in Barcelona playmaker Ivan Rakitić
Barcelona are set to pocket a big profit as the race for the signature of Ivan Rakitić intensifies. After Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Inter Milan, German giants Bayern Munich are the latest club to express interest in signing the World Cup finalist.
After Ernesto Valverde convinced him to stay at Barça last summer, Rakitić has requested a new contract. The 30-year old Croatian playmaker had signed his last deal in 2016, which expires in 2021. But the club management has rejected his request.
To aggravate the situation, Barça have confirmed the signing of Frenkie de Jong for the upcoming summer. Ivan Rakitić is expected to make way for the 21-year old Netherlands international, and that has not gone down well with the experienced midfielder.

As a result, Rakitić is considering offers from various clubs. Among these clubs, Inter Milan are the only side to have contacted Barça over a move, and have submitted a €35 million bid. But now, Bayern are also looking to submit an offer.
The Bavarian club are looking for someone with experience to fill the hole left by the departure of Arturo Vidal, who joined Barça last summer. Rakitić fits that profile perfectly, with plenty of experience in the Bundesliga, having played for Schalke before joining Sevilla.
He also has a lot of international experience, along with some prestigious accolades to his name. For these reasons, Barça are demanding a fee upwards of €50 million for Rakitić. If Bayern can match Barça’s asking price, then Inter have a fight on their hands.
Moreover, Bayern are ready to match Rakitić’s wage demands.
