Iñaki Peña’s agent Luis Alonso now has Barcelona target Saúl in his clientele
Despite the fact that Ivan Rakitić could stay if he gets a new contract, Barcelona are keeping all options open. Among one of the possible replacements for the 30-year Croatian playmaker is Atlético midfielder Saúl.
The 24-year old Spain international is highly-rated, and one of the best young midfielders in Europe. But despite interest from the likes of Manchester United, he only sees himself at Atlético and signed a 9-year deal in 2017.

But Barça could make a breakthrough after Saúl’s decision to change agents. He is now represented by Luis Alonso of Stellar Group, who has two clients with bright futures at Barça, Iñaki Peña and Ilaix Moriba.
Iliax recently signed the highest-paying deal in the history of La Masia, while Peña could receive a call-up to the first-team squad next season after Jasper Cillessen leaves. Peña also signed a new contract last season. It is clear that Alonso has a good relationship with Barça.
If the club decides to go for Saúl, it will have an advantage over Manchester United, who are also interested. The young midfielder has a release clause of €150 million, but Barça can sign him for around €100 million.

But that may be too steep a fee, considering that the departures of André Gomes, Ivan Rakitić and Denis Suárez will be unable to bring in that amount. Also, it is unlikely that a high-profile player like Saúl will accept a spot on the bench.
