Barcelona will need to pay €20 million for Nicolás Tagliafico
Ajax have put a €20 million price tag on Barcelona target Nicolás Tagliafico
Barcelona will be going after Nicolás Tagliafico in the upcoming summer transfer window, to act as a backup to first-choice left-back Jordi Alba. Now, the club has been quoted a fee by Ajax, which is around €20 million.
Barça have considered a lot of options for the position, including internal options. But Juan Miranda has a long way to go before he can become a full-time member of the first-team squad, while Marc Cucurella may allow the club to pocket a big profit.
Tagliafico is a tad expensive for Barça, but Ajax also want to make a profit after signing the 26-year old versatile Argentine defender from Independiente for €4 million last summer. Moreover, he has been very prolific this season, with 5 goals and assists apiece.

Barça can try and negotiate to lower the fee to a more agreeable amount. But if Ajax hold out for €20 million and it is unacceptable, there are a host of similar options across Europe. Of course, Tagliafico is the best due to his time in the Argentina national team alongside Lionel Messi.
Bundesliga left-backs Philipp Max and Nico Schulz have been both very good this season, and are decent options. Paris Saint-Germain reject Layvin Kurwaza is also very talented, while Wolves’ full-back Jonny Castro could add a lot of versatility to the mix with his two-footed nature.
But nevertheless, Barça have prioritised the signing of Nicolás Tagliafico, and will be competing with fellow La Liga side Atlético Madrid for his signature.
