Barcelona no longer interested in Maxi Gómez and André Silva
Barcelona are totally focusing on Luka Jović
The search for a successor to Luis Suárez is gradually coming to an end, and Barcelona have holed in on the ideal target, Luka Jović. As a result, the club has removed two players from the existing shortlist, André Silva and Maxi Gómez.
Maxi Gómez has been followed by club scouts ever since he ended last season with 19 goals and 5 assists. The youngster is considered as the successor to Luis Suárez in the Uruguay national team, and Barça wanted to sign him because of that.
But despite being decent this season, Gómez has been unable to lead Celta from the front. He has quality, but is simply not good enough to be a Barça player. The other player who is being considered is Sevilla striker André Silva.

The Portuguese centre-forward started with a bang after arriving on loan from AC Milan, but has slowed down considerably since. He is still doing well, but has lost consistency. Barça have been following him since his Porto days, but have now ended their interest.
This decision can lead to more concentration of the primary target. Luka Jović is a player in demand across Europe, and Barça need to extensively negotiate with both Eintracht Frankfurt and the player in order to bring him in next summer.
But the club does not need to find an alternative to Jović, in case the move doesn’t work out. Antoine Griezmann has already been rejected by Barça despite his wish for a move away from Atlético, and a backup option has to be found.
Jović’s teammate Sébastien Haller could also be considered, along with fellow Bundesliga striker Timo Werner.
