Barcelona find new suitor for Jean-Clair Todibo in Roma
Roma are interested in taking Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo on loan
Jean-Clair Todibo will be leaving Barcelona after joining from Toulouse in the January transfer window itself in a €1 million. The club has already started looking into potential loan moves for the French youngster, with Roma emerging as the latest suitor.
Ajax have already registered interest in Todibo. Barça’s deal for Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt could possibly include Todibo moving in the opposite direction on loan. Such a move would not be the first, as Paco Alcácer’s transfer also involved Munir’s loan to Valencia.
Todibo needs to get some experience in Europe before becoming a proper part of the squad, having played just 8 matches in Ligue 1. Ajax is reputed for being a good club for the growth of players, while Roma also need defensive reinforcements.

Juan Jesus has been unable to complement Kostas Manolas in the Roma defence, while Federico Fazio is rapidly ageing. Todibo would be a welcome addition for the struggling Serie A side, who eliminated Barça from the Champions League in the quarter-final last season.
Barça will not be accommodate Todibo in the squad, with the signing of Frenkie de Jong and Samuel Umtiti’s return from injury. Thomas Vermaelen’s departure could open up a spot in the squad, but the club could decide against taking that risk with such an inexperienced player.
Moves to both Roma and Ajax would be highly beneficial for Todibo, who could replace Umtiti if he leaves. The World Cup winner will consider a move away from the Camp Nou if Barça sign De Ligt from Ajax.
