Barcelona prepared to make three more summer signings
The Catalans have three positions they want to strengthen alongside the acquisition of Frenkie de Jong.
Barcelona have a strong squad as shown by their ability to successfully compete on three fronts this season, but there are still a few areas that could be improved due to lack of depth or ageing players. They also need to ensure they have a plan in place for when Lionel Messi moves on as his departure will have a huge impact on the team.
According to Sport, Barca are planning moves in the summer for Matthijs de Ligt, Luka Jovic and one of either Nacho Monreal or Alberto Moreno. With these signings, they would be able to shore up the areas of concern and have depth in every position, which was the only concern as they have the strongest first XI in world football with Messi playing a large part in that.

De Ligt is similar to his teammate Frenkie de Jong in that he has the necessary skillset to thrive at Barcelona due to his high level of technical ability as well as intelligence and has the potential to be a top player. He would be an excellent long-term replacement for Gerard Pique and at 19-years-old he could easily provide the club with 15 years of service if they are able to keep him content.
Jovic has had a stunning individual season as part of a deadly attacking trio alongside Sebastian Haller and Ante Rebic for Eintracht Frankfurt, which has seen them reach the Europa League quarter-finals as well as being fifth place in the league. 22 goals and seven assists in 2307 minutes is a hugely impressive return and his range of finishes has highlighted his technical ability.
Between them, De Ligt and Jovic are likely to cost over 100 million euros, which is a significant investment but they have shown more than enough to suggest that they would be worth it.
Nacho Monreal and Alberto Moreno are both available for free in the summer due to their contracts running out. Both would be effective deputies for Jordi Alba, although Moreno would be the better option due to being significantly younger at 26-years-old. Bringing in one of these would provide a barrier to the first team for Juan Miranda and Marc Cucurella, so they would need to be loaned out to a La Liga side to continue their development like Cucurella has this season with Eibar.
Bringing in these players would represent an excellent summer of business for the Barcelona board as they look to build on any potential success this season and lower the average age of the squad.
