Lionel Messi has ambitious expectations from Barcelona during the summer and he has recently been vocal to the club with his demands.

Barcelona were nearly there at the gates of the Wanda Metropolitano for the UEFA Champions League 2019. However, Liverpool thwarted their bid to win the Champions League after a barren run of three seasons. The second leg in England provided enough clarity about where and how the Catalans need to strengthen.

Lionel Messi is now going to work with the club in order to facilitate this summer. The Argentina international has already mapped out a rough plan and a report from Diario GOL has now shown exactly what the 31-year-old plans on doing at the Camp Nou during the off-season rebuilding period.

Frenkie de Jong’s signing has been made and the Blaugrana are on the same page as Lionel Messi. The captain now wants Barcelona to close in on the signing of Matthijs de Ligt. Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid are the other clubs interested in him, but it looks like the Ajax Amsterdam defender prefers a move to the Camp Nou.

Another agenda in the notepad includes the signing of a proper right back. Nelson Semedo has been pretty decent, but Sergi Roberto is looking uncomfortable in the impeded role these days. It has been thought that Messi feels Joshua Kimmich to be an ideal target, otherwise Ferland Mendy of Olympique Lyon could be an equally good fill-in.

The next thing which is on the list is the sales of Malcom, Ivan Rakitic and Samuel Umtiti. The winger has not had enough chances and would be better off somewhere else, whereas Ivan Rakitic is most likely a surplus now following Frenkie de Jong’s arrival. Umtiti is already behind Lenglet and Pique in the pecking order after his injury and risks going further down if de Ligt is signed.

Finally, Lionel Messi commiserates with Barcelona’s grievances surrounding Philippe Coutinho and believes that it is in the club’s best interests to get rid of the Brazil international. That said, triggering Antoine Griezmann’s 120 million euros’ release clause is a good idea as per the Barcelona frontman.
