Barcelona’s transfer move in association with Atletico Madrid may go on to hurt arch rivals Real Madrid during the upcoming summer.

Atletico Madrid forward & Barcelona target Antoine Griezmann raised some big eyebrows when he made the shock announcement about the current season with the Rojiblancos being his last. This mainly comes as a surprise to many because the 28 year-old was happy to have his contract extended until 2023.

More from Everything Barca

Griezmann, along with Atletico failed to capture upon their best chance to win their 11th title, after the narrow close-table finish, back in 2016. With no titles this year as well, it is clear that Antoine is looking to add trophies to his career and hence joining the Catalan giants might just be the right move for him. Not to forget, Barcelona are the current La Liga champions.

The French national is expected to fetch a deal in an excess of £100 million and onwards. More importantly, Barcelona are the favourites to acquire his services as there have been numerous links between Barça and Griezmann in the past.

However, what’s worth mentioning is that Barcelona’s move could see their rivals in Real Madrid miss out on their transfer target, as per Fox Sports. The Whites are reportedly looking to beef up their attack following a woeful season, where their attack lacked depth in the absence of Christiano Ronaldo.

Both, Atletico and Real Madrid are after João Felix who is already being termed as the ‘next Ronaldo’. Felix is currently locked in a contract worth £120 million and in all probability, if Barça do match the sum of £100 million or a bit more than that, Atletico will divert it towards acquiring the services of the youngster.

With numerous players set to leave the Bernabeu, Real Madrid have a big transfer chest to spend this summer and needless to say, they’ve got a task cut out in front of them and the sooner they act on acquiring Felix, the better for them.

However, Felix joining Atletico would make much more sense as Atletico Madrid has had a history of producing world-class strikers and João would be assured of sufficient game-time in the red and white as compared to The Whites who will be under enormous pressure at the start of the next season.

On the other hand, it can be said that Antoin Griezmann’s future at the Camp Nou would hold good for him as Barcelona have always been the favourites in whichever competition they’re a part of.
