Barcelona will be going all-in in their attempt to replace Lionel Messi before things get very tight when the Argentine wears out.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has guided the club to La Liga’s summit single-handedly and the club would be a long way off its current position were it not for the Argentina international’s magic. The 31-year-old has scored 36 times in the Spanish top flight this season and Ernesto Valverde’s side may not even have made it to the top four without those goals.

However, the Catalans have to start planning for life after Lionel Messi. While his performances are simply sensational, Messi isn’t growing any younger and thus, it is important that Barcelona manage to sign a replacement for him before it’s too late. Real Madrid without Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018/19 are the perfect example of how a club can collapse without its main man.

According to Diario GOL, the Spanish champions are planning to replace Lionel Messi by signing Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe. The France international and Neymar have both been linked with a transfer out of Paris Saint-Germain this summer and Thomas Tuchel display his uncertainty on whether the duo would be at the Parc de Princes next season.

Real Madrid are the frontrunners to sign the former Barcelona winger Neymar and World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe. The Whites have been vocal of their ambition of signing the PSG frontmen through president Florentino Perez and they can certainly afford to go all-in and meet the French giants’ demands of a possibly combined 500 million euros.

Yet, the Blaugrana will try their best to sign Lionel Messi’s successor during the summer. Josep Maria Bartomeu has decided to hold no frills in his attempt to land Kylian Mbappe and will offer 160 million euros plus two players. Philippe Coutinho who’s been a horrific signing will be included in the deal as will be the potentially outgoing midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
