Two of Barcelona’s senior most players are of the opinion that the club’s incompetent board led by Josep Maria Bartomeu is responsible for most things.

Barcelona’s season collapsed in a space of weeks and the Copa del Rey loss was the last straw in what has been a 2018/19 of more downs than ups. The Catalans were on track to win a treble until some horrific performances over the last few matches forced them to settle only for one trophy- La Liga Santander.

More from Everything Barca

Ernesto Valverde’s side was absolutely battered by Liverpool at the Anfield by a 4-0 score line as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team overturned a 3-0 deficit from the Camp Nou’s first leg of the Champions League semi-finals. Ever since that day on Merseyside, the former Athletic Bilbao manager’s boss has been under scrutiny.

Things only went from bad to worse as Barcelona were beaten by Valencia in the Copa del Rey Final. Marcelino Garcia’s side imposed a harrowing defeat on the defending league champions courtesy of Kevin Gameiro and Rodrigo. What’s worse is that the Blaugrana was dominated physically, tactically and mentally- so Ernesto Valverde does not really have a hiding spot.

Despite whatever that has happened, Diario GOL reports that Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have come to an agreement with the fact that Ernesto Valverde is the right man to manage Barcelona. That being said, the South American duo believes that Josep Maria Bartomeu is not the right president for the club.

Over the last few years, a lot has been spoken about how incompetitive Barcelona’s board has been so it is no surprise that the Camp Nou mainstays are slowly commiserating with the fans’ view. While Bartomeu has made statements, they have been more panic signings than meaningful ones and the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele are embodiments.

Next. Barça need to recognise Ernesto Valverde's failure. dark
