Barcelona make the latest in a line of poor high-profile signings
Barcelona will be signing Antoine Griezmann, per Atlético CEO Gil Marín
Spoiling what would be an unpleasant surprise for club fans, Atlético Madrid CEO Gil Marín has revealed Antoine Griezmann will be joining Barcelona this summer. Apparently, he has known since March that this transfer would take place.
Griezmann’s representatives had also entered negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, but it will be Barça who will activate his €120 million release clause when the transfer window starts on 1st July.
This certainly spells bad news for Barça. There are doubts as to how the Frenchman will fit in. For this reason, significant opposition to the signing has come from inside the club. Despite this, autocratic president Josep Maria Bartomeu has gone ahead with the signing.

There is already a bad feeling about the prospect of Antoine Griezmann at Barça, which is a sure recipe for disaster. The signings of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembélé were made with high hopes, yet they have not turned out as expected.
There are no expectations with the signing of Griezmann. He is coming off an average season with Atlético, who went trophyless. The 28-year old centre-forward will probably be a huge flop, and will not get a second chance down the left flank if he fails up front.
Griezmann is the latest in a list of consecutive high-profile flops that Barça have brought in. Unless he can defy everyone and become the best player in the world, Luis Suárez will not be dislodged from the centre-forward spot.
