Barcelona deny Camp Nou rights to EA for four FIFA games in a row
Konami have renewed their partnership with Barcelona
Barcelona faced a lot of ire from gamers across the world after pulling its stadium from FIFA 16 back in 2015. Instead, the club awarded the rights to the Camp Nou to Konami, the developers of the less-popular Pro Evolution Soccer series.
The initial partnership was for a period of 3 years, with the contract expiring after the release of PES 19. This gave FIFA players hope of getting the magnificent Camp Nou back in the game for FIFA 20, but they have been let down by Barça.
The club has renewed its partnership with Konami, again deciding to award exclusive rights to the Camp Nou to the Japanese entertainment giant. This time, the partnership will be further strengthened with Konami advertisements appearing in home games.

It has also been announced that Lionel Messi will be the cover star of PES 20. But that is hardly consolation for desperate fans who long to see the stadium of their favourite team back in FIFA, which is undoubtedly the better game in terms of both gameplay and graphics.
While there is no hope for the upcoming FIFA 20, Barça could probably consider pulling the ‘exclusive’ tag from its agreement with Konami for the rights to the Camp Nou. Many other top clubs allow both Konami and EA to feature them in their games.
In fact, that was Barça’s policy before 2016. If the club returns to that policy for FIFA 21, it would be good. But due to Barça’s closeness with big players of the Japanese corporate world, that is almost an impossibility.
