Barcelona: Chile international attracts interest from Serie A giants
Barcelona have a suitor for Arturo Vidal
Only a season after joining Barcelona, Arturo Vidal is already attracting interest in the transfer market. Newly-appointed Inter Milan head coach Antonio Conte wants to reunite with the Chile international, who enjoyed his best years under Conte at Juventus.
Vidal has had a good debut season with Barça. While he is not the quintessential Barça midfielder, the experienced campaigner adds a new dimension to Ernesto Valverde’s squad. He competed with established first-team members for minutes last season.
Inter want Vidal as a replacement for box-to-box midfielder Radja Nainggolan, who is set to return to former club Cagliari. Barça, on the other hand, are reluctant to let him go. Vidal has grown to be a favourite of Valverde, who sees him as an important utility player.

Barça have a €22 million valuation of Vidal, which is €4 million higher than the fee paid to Bayern to bring him in. Nevertheless, he is unlikely to leave this summer. He is the only player of his kind in the squad, and has the ability to find the back of the net in crunch games.
But things will be getting more difficult for the Chilean playmaker this season. Due to injuries to Arthur and Ivan Rakitić’s sketchy form, he got a lot of playing time last season. But the signing of Frenkie de Jong will intensify the competition for minutes in midfield.
Vidal will need to perform consistently off the bench and in Copa del Rey matches in order to stake a claim to a starting spot. He also needs to score occasionally, as his wont.
