Barcelona have received good news about Neymar’s probable move to the Camp Nou, but also have a deadline to adhere to if they are to sign the Brazilian.

Transfers between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are always like a soap opera after the way in which the relationship between the two clubs has panned out. The Catalans made several illegitimate attempts to sign PSG players in Marco Verratti and Adrien Rabiot in the past, so the French giants responded by signing Neymar and now Xavi Simmons- two hyped up players from the Camp Nou.

Ernesto Valverde’s side is now interested in sanctioning a deal for Neymar to return to Catalonia and the player is interested in a return to the club as well having been fed up with life in Paris. The rapport between the club and player isn’t too good either and Nasser Al-Khelaifi will be willing to allow the Brazil international to leave the Parc des Princes if a reasonable offer comes Paris Saint-Germain’s way this summer.

Given that the Spanish champions are the only club interested in signing Neymar thus far and have possibly made a realistic approach for the former Santos winger, Paris Saint-Germain have placed a deadline in front of the Blaugrana over the Brazilian’s transfer and as an act of adjustment, they are willing to let Neymar go on loan for this year with an option to purchase next year- as they did with Kylian Mbappe in the 2017/18 campaign, Fox Sports has claimed.

Having the chance to sign Neymar on loan would be a great opportunity for Barcelona to get their former superstar in return, but they may have to pay in excess of 300 million euros next year regardless. However, their financial position will be much better than now and so they can afford to negotiate the cost at the very least. That said, Malcom’s sale is expected to be completed soon and the 40 million euros could help the Catalans in paying Neymar’s wage.

Antoine Griezmann has been Barcelona’s only signing that will strengthen the frontline. Frenkie de Jong’s signing however could be considered the most important one as the Blaugrana has lacked the flair in the engine room after Andres Iniesta’s departure. Neto Murara’s arrival is more good news but not so exciting as he would largely play only in the Copa del Rey. Junior Firpo could also join the club during the coming weeks.
