Paris Saint Germain have told Barcelona what they need to pay in a proposed deal for Neymar.

The Neymar-to-Barcelona rumors refuse to die down and new details of a potential move are being revealed with the transfer deadline approaching fast. Mundo Deportivo reported earlier in the week that Neymar had set his own deadline and was willing to wait until August 20th for the Catalans to make move. If no agreement was reached, then the Brazilian would consider other options.

Those other options included the likes of Juventus and Real Madrid. AS reported that PSG made the first contact with Real Madrid and that Madrid were interested given the drop in price for the Brazilian. The idea of a one-year loan was also floated about. The opportunity of selling or loaning Neymar to Barcelona’s biggest rivals is one that appeals to PSG would rather not sell him to Barcelona.

Losing Neymar to their biggest rivals is something the board, led by Josep Maria Bartomeu, do not want. Which is why the club are working behind the scenes to come to an agreement. They may have hit a breakthrough as they now know what kind of offer PSG would accept.

More from Everything Barca

Goal have revealed that PSG would only let Neymar leave for his old club if they were offered Philippe Coutinho, Nelson Semedo, and €50 million.

On the surface, it seems like a deal Barcelona should make. The amount of money PSG are asking for is doable and it takes care of the Coutinho conundrum. The hold-up is the inclusion of Nelson Semedo. Semedo had been rumored with a possible transfer to Atletico Madrid but the club refused to let him leave and intimated that he was an important player for the club. His departure weakens the squad and leaves Moussa Wague as the only other right-back with Ernesto Valverde deciding to move Sergi Roberto back to midfield.

Leonardo, PSG sporting director, has said that there have been talks with Neymar and said talks are progressing. He did not divulge which team, or teams, they were negotiating with. The Brazilian will not play in his team’s first game. Tuchel said it was because Neymar was still in pre-season mode and due to an injury. Leonardo also added that he won’t play because negotiations for him are advanced.

We’re entering the final days of this saga. For Barcelona and its supporters, they need to ask themselves if weakening the right-back position and causing a log jam up front, along with the baggage and circus Neymar comes with, is worth it.
