Lionel Messi has told Barcelona that he hopes to be playing with one of Bayern Munich’s star men in the Camp Nou at a point in the near future.

Barcelona right back Nelson Semedo has been inconsistent over the last few months and his defensive frailties have been exposed time and again by the opponents. It is always the Catalans’ right flank that is being targeted by teams and that is due to the sole reason that Nelson Semedo is caught napping and out of his position several times.

Sergi Roberto has been used as a makeshift right fullback by Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde, but the player prefers playing at right midfield despite his versatility. Having said that, Roberto is also weak from a defensive standpoint and thus, the Catalans are in need of a right full back- a position’s strengthening that was on their agenda since a while.

However, throughout the summer, there was not enough importance given to the reinforcements of the backline and Neymar’s deal was being pursued. But with that now having slipped out of hand, Lionel Messi has asked Barcelona to sign Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich to reinforce their defence, according to Diario GOL.

Bayern Munich consider Joshua Kimmich absolutely integral to their setup and Niko Kovac does employ the player regularly and has been doing so this season as well despite Benjamin Pavard’s arrival. With a lack of squad depth, the defending Bundesliga champions would not want to let go of Kimmich, at least for anything less than 50 to 60 million euros.

Another option that Barcelona have in their book is to approach Kimmich and Bayern Munich next year if the Bavarians agree to sign Philippe Coutinho on a permanent deal. Coutinho is now on a season-long loan at the Allianz Arena and there is an option to buy during the summer’s transfer window next year which Barca may use to their benefit.

If Kimmich is signed by Barca, who should leave between Semedo and Roberto?
