Barcelona and Neymar set to meet again weeks after failed negotiations with PSG.

The Neymar saga between Barcelona and PSG may be over but the player and the Catalan club still have unfinished business to tend to.

One overlooked aspect during the Neymar negotiations was that the Brazilian had a pending lawsuit against the club stemming from his move to PSG. To make things more awkward, he was then counter-sued by his former side.

More from Everything Barca

The club’s rationale regarding their lawsuit was that Neymar had breached his contract and wanted to recoup a bonus he was given when he renewed the season prior to leaving. Ironically, Neymar’s initial suit stemmed from an unpaid loyalty bonus.

Regardless, a date has been set where both he and Barcelona will meet in court to present their case in front of a judge.

According to AS, the two sides will meet on September 27 with Neymar suing the club for €26 million and the club suing him for €75 million. Interestingly enough, the report also states that had there been an agreement and Neymar returned, then both sides would have dropped their respective lawsuits.

As we all know, that transfer never prospered so the legal battle between them rages on.

Neymar is not expected to attend the trial and instead will simply be represented by his lawyers. In addition to the lawsuit brought upon him by Barcelona, he still has pending matters with the tax authorities in Spain who will have an eye on him to see how this legal battle plays out.

When they first brought upon their lawsuit, on the surface it looked like an attempt to save face after believing Neymar would stay. It continues to look that way but at least this case appears to have an end date one way or another.
