Barcelona are expected to earn a handsome amount of cash after deciding two sell two players at high prices by the next summer.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain made a huge statement in the summer of 2017 after they agreed a deal for Neymar worth 222 million euros. The Parisians triggering the Brazil international’s release clause meant that it was the most expensive transfer in football history, but both clubs were under pressure after such a hefty deal.

While PSG faced the risk of facing a transfer ban, Barca spent reactively on Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho in a space of six months- spending in excess of 100 million euros on each player’s signing. The Catalans have not been able to obtain the best of either players and subsequently moved for Antoine Griezmann.

So many superstars in one team means that the club’s wage structure is as imbalanced as it could be. In the most recent annual general meeting, most of the committee members displayed their resentment at Barca’s financial structure and put the hierarchy under great pressure with cross questioning regarding spending.

After properly analysing the financial model of the club, it has been claimed that the Blaugrana will need to make sales worth 124 million euros by the end of 30 June 2020, the financial year, so as to escape from any kinds of losses. Failure in doing so could see the club’s members push for a change at the top level, according to ESPN FC.

Spain’s defending champions are ready to sell two players who will easily earn them at least 124 million euros. Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Rakitic are the men who face the axe prior to next summer. Neither of the players have been prominent at Barca in the last few months and the former is already out on loan at Bayern Munich.

Bundesliga’s royalty has a chance to purchase Philippe Coutinho for 120 million euros before June 30 next year and given how well the former Liverpool forward is performing at the Allianz Arena, it is increasingly looking likely that Coutinho will call Bavaria his permanent home from 2020/21.

Ivan Rakitic on the other hand has fallen down the pecking order since Frenkie de Jong’s arrival and Arthur Melo’s development, so with interest incoming from Inter Milan and Juventus, the Croatia international may be heading out as well. Rakitic should earn Barca 30 million euros at the very least.

On a scale of 1 to 5, how adversely would Barcelona be affected after Coutinho’s and Rakitic’s exits?
