Barcelona can make up to €30 million in profits off wantaway veteran
Barcelona can make a lot of money this winter
Last summer was a extravaganza in terms of spending. Barcelona spent almost €250 million signing new players. In contrast, departures were around €100 million. That leaves the club €150 million in the red, which is not good when there are players to sign.
Barça are tracking centre-forwards to succeed Luis Suárez, with the signing of Antoine Griezmann gearing up to be a disaster. Philippe Coutinho is expected to join Bayern Munich on a permanent deal next summer, but the funds could be insufficient for an attacking revamp.
But this January, Barça are set to make big profits. Ivan Rakitić is set to leave, and there are a lot of suitors. Manchester United and Juventus are the frontrunners to land the signature of the 31-year old Croatian playmaker, while the Milanese duo are also in the race.

With this many clubs interested in Rakitić, Barça can ask for upwards of €40 million. A bidding war could be sparked which would result in Barça getting a fee of around €50 million. With Barça having paid just €18 million for his services, it would be a very good deal.
Rakitić’s departure could add a significant to Barça’s war chest for next summer, which will be boosted by the record revenue recorded this year. With the funds from the sales of Rakitić and Coutinho, Barça can go after Neymar again.
PSV Eindhoven youngster Donyell Malen has also emerged as a new target for the Blaugrana, and he has a price tag of €60 million. So, Barça are set to make big profits in January with Rakitić and possibly even Aleñá, and reinvest that into next summer’s transfer budget.
