Barcelona are going after Red Bull Salzburg’s hot prospect Karim Adeyemi

Red Bull-owned clubs have become the hotspot for the best youngsters from Germany and Austria. Barcelona have taken note of this, with La Masia head Patrick Kluivert identifying RB Salzburg youngster Karim Adeyemi as a target for the January transfer window.

The 17-year old Adeyemi joined Austrian second-division club FC Liefering on loan in the summer, and the young centre-forward has set the 2.Liga on fire. Adeyemi has scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists in 11 appearances in all competitions this season.

Due to the agreement between Liefering and Salzburg, Adeyemi trains with the Salzburg first-team squad and also plays in the UEFA Youth League for their U-19 side. The Nigerian-origin wonderkid is shaping up to be a star in the future.

Barça are looking to bring him in the January transfer window. Adeyemi has convinced Kluivert of his potential, and the Blaugrana will look to pair him up with Golden Boy-nominated starlet Ansu Fati to secure the long-term future of the attack.

Red Bull Salzburg do not want to let go of Adeyemi at such an early stage, and will demand a fee in the region of €8 million. That is very steep for a player who is yet to play in the top-flight. But Barça might just pay up, and make the Germany youth international a La Masia player.

Adeyemi is left-footed, and can play down the right apart from operating as a centre-forward. If he can continue his development properly, La Masia might be able to churn out yet another left-footed superstar, the first since Leo Messi.
