Barcelona and Real Madrid agree on new date for El Clasico

This has been done in the light of the recent protests in Barcelona aimed at the arrests of 9 Catalan leaders. They were jailed on Monday and that sparked some protests in Catalonia.
As per some sources, the protesters were looking to use the upcoming high voltage clash as a medium to voice their concerns to the World. However, the Spanish football Federation has recognised the potential threat and has moved the date to December, after the mutual agreement between the two giants.
It should be brought to light that a proposal was made to push the game to Bernabeu for the original scheduled date but both the clubs refused that offer. Barcelona’s concerns of losing out on the early home advantage on their arch rivals is understandable but it remains unclear as to why Real Madrid opposed that offer.
While nothing much can be said about all this, Barca can still walk away with a positive that the first leg of the much awaited fixture of the season will be in their home and that they could possibly go one up against their bitter rivals from there on.
