As per reports from Fox Sports, Pep Guardiola is eager to solve a few problems in his squad. For this, he has turned to the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

More from FC Barcelona News

After having fallen behind Liverpool this season by a healthy margin of 8 points, Pep Guardiola has identified the defensive flaws in his squad. His two first choice centre-backs (John Stones and Aymeric Laporte) are out injured and so, Nicolas Otamendi and Fernandinho have assumed the centre of defense and will turn to Barcelona and their rivals in Madrid to address the issues.

The Spanish coach has identified two replacements in the out of favour Samuel Umtiti from Barcelona and Nacho from Real Madrid. While Umtiti is set to cost around £60 million, the Los Blancos might let go of Nacho with ease. Umtiti will assume the role of Laporte and Nacho will take up the role of the Left-back.

Umtiti is set to be back after a long injury lay-off. The French International has had a series of injuries in the past year and half and it is quite evident that Ernesto Valverde isn’t too keen on playing the Frenchman on a regular basis.

This coming winter window the defending La Liga champions have quite a number of targets in mind and it is quite natural that a lot will be spent. The best counter move to this would be to let go of the players that are out of favour at the moment and the ones who aren’t a part of their future plans. Umtiti going for £60 million is quite acceptable and the Blaugrana should take the deal.
