One of Barcelona’s most prominent figures has revealed who he thinks would be the best partner for Messi and Suarez on the left flank.

Barcelona are struggling to have a permanent left winger since the departure of Neymar. The Brazil international completed a 222 million euros’ transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, but it is fair to say that Neymar has not lived up to the expectations and hype that surrounded following his move to the French capital.

Ousmane Dembele was signed from Borussia Dortmund following Neymar’s departure, but the young winger has had his off-field issues and there has been a big inconsistency in his form. The transfer fee which exceeded 100 million euros that Barca spent on the World Cup winner is yet to be justified and Dembele is constantly linked with a exit.

Philippe Coutinho did not do much grace to the Catalans either as he too flopped and was unable to provide a rationale for his 142 million pounds’ price tag. The former Liverpool winger is currently on loan at Bayern Munich and amid talks that the Bavarians could permanently sign him up, Coutinho certainly has one foot outside of Barcelona.

Antoine Griezmann was the latest multimillion euro signing made from Atletico Madrid and though the France international showed signs of settling well into the team, inconsistencies and discomfort over the left wing have marred him. The club’s legend Rivaldo has now talked and insisted that a return for Neymar seems Barca’s most feasible solution, as reported by Fox Sports.

"“Barca’s new attacking trio, of Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann (MSG), is giving some good signs and showing it can work in the future, but I don’t believe it will reach Messi, Suarez, Neymar (MSN) level, Neymar is a distinctive player who creates a lot of assists, scores many goals and takes control of the game when needed thanks to his personality. hat’s something Griezmann doesn’t have yet, and even though he has scored goals already, he hasn’t fully adapted to his new team’s style of play. It could be a while before we see him playing at the same level as we saw for many years at Atletico Madrid. He is not yet irreplaceable in the team and keeps being subbed before the end of matches. That doesn’t happen to Messi or Suarez. Even when they are not playing well, they stay on the pitch thanks to their status and ability to make the difference at any time.”"

Neymar was heavily linked with a move back to the Camp Nou this summer, but Barcelona were tight on funds and Paris Saint-Germain behaved as rigid as they could have with the Spanish champions. As a result, the ambitions of Ernesto Valverde’s side fell apart but it is expected that the two parties will discuss a potential Neymar move next summer again.
