Riqui Puig once again commits his future at Barcelona and takes a dig at Patrick Kluivert.

Riqui Puig says he is not going anywhere and reaffirms his commitment to succeed at Barcelona despite some of the rumors.

At the same time, he took a bit of a dig at the club’s new director of youth football, Patrick Kluivert.

According to Bleacher Report, Puig said,

"” At all times I have said that I want to stay at Barça. At the moment I’m not considering leaving the club and everything is going well. I’m going to stay here”"

He said something to that effect a few months back when asked about his future. A potential loan move has been on the cards given the type of treatment he receives playing in the Segunda B.

He’s had to endure some harsh challenges and was forced off on a stretcher in one of their games because of that.

Kluivert himself even expressed that Puig may ultimately have to go out on loan because of the amount of midfielders in the senior team.  Puig was asked about the Dutchman’s comments.

According to Diario Sport, he said,

"“Kluivert? He has not spoken with me but [Eric] Abidal is also there and he is the one in charge of Barça B and he is the one to talk about these things because he is above him.”"

The talented Barcelona youngster is also well aware of the logjam and understands the predicament that Ernesto Valverde is under.

Staying at the club rather than going out on loan does have its advantages.

For one, he knows he is going to play every game even if it is in the Segunda B. As has been mentioned in the past, Barcelona does not have the best track record when it comes to loaning out players. The latest example is Juan Miranda who has not yet featured for Schalke 04 over in Germany.

Another is he is still going to get the odd game here and there with the senior team. The Copa del Rey is coming up and he’s likely to play then. With the Catalans already through to the knockout stage of the Champions League, he may feature against Inter Milan as well.

Finally, Barça B find themselves in the hunt for promotion. They sit in fifth place but well within range of first place. If he stays, he can help the team gain promotion and play in games that mean something.

Puig’s talent is unquestionable. He seems to have a clear path and wants to follow it. Barcelona have a special talent on their hands. The only question is whether the club will be smart enough to take advantage of it.
