Barcelona aren’t exactly at bay with their midfield problems this season. Midfield attack has been a concern for Barcelona and the morale of the players involved in that areas isn’t too great either.

As per Dailymail.co.uk, Barcelona are looking to strengthen their midfield by signing Dortmund’s Julian Weigl.

The defensive midfielder has shown a lot of promise and would be the perfect replacement for someone like Arturo Vidal or Ivan Rakitic who have expressed their desire to leave in the coming transfer window.

Julian will be playing with the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, Arthur and Alena. The 24 year-old can prove to be a long term prospect for the club and has shown glimpses of his full potential at Dortmund.

With a lot many years behind him, Weigl is the perfect replacement for Vidal who isn’t a first choice option anymore. Moreover, with some consistent performances, he could also lead the Midfield in a few years time. The Blaugranes are ready to bid up to £23 million as of now.

Barcelona do need someone solid in their midfield as it has been lackluster for them this season. With Rakitic and Vidal almost set to leave, the need for a good all-round Midfielder becomes even more prominent. Julian is a prospect and is likely to fit in well with Valverde’s plans for the future. He is a perfect fit for a squad that is undergoing a major overhaul.
