Barcelona’s Christmas came early as key duo return before crucial clashes against Real Sociedad and Real Madrid for the top spot of the La Liga table.

Barcelona are back in League action on Saturday with their fixture against 4th place Real Sociedad, with what seems to be a tough test for the Catalan giants as they look to fight for the top position of the league against rivals Real Madrid, with both teams level on 34 points.

After the heroic display from the Barca bench during their final Champions League group fixture against Inter Milan, the Spanish champions turn their focus to the remaining league matches of 2019, and recent reports claim that Blaugrana have been handed double injury boosts to maintain their dominant performance.

Mundo Deportivo has reported that both Jordi Alba and Nelson Semedo joined the training on Thursday and have recovered well enough to make a possible return against Sociedad on Saturday.

It is very much likely that both the full-backs could be included in the squad for the visit to Anoeta, assuming they do not face any setbacks in their respective recovery. The away fixture could be a great opportunity to test both the players before Los Blanco’s visit to the Nou Camp next Wednesday.

The report, however, also shared that midfielder Arthur Melo did not train with the squad and is still struggling with his injury. The Brazilian will not be featured this weekend, giving room for youngster Carles Alena to make an appearance.
