Barcelona are keen on securing Chelsea star, Willian, during the January transfer window as they look to replace long-term injured Ousmane Dembele.

Barcelona have long been linked to Willian and reportedly are ready to continue their chase despite having their previous £55 million bid rejected by Chelsea in the summer of 2018. Their renewed offer of Malcom plus cash in January 2019, was also rejected by the Premier League club, but they are now hoping to get the player for a discounted fee in 2020 as the Brazilian only has 6 months remaining in his contract.

More from Everything Barca

As the Brazilian’s current contract nears expiration, Willian is open to discuss his future with other clubs at the start of 2020. Barca have reignited their long-time interest in the winger and are confident they will secure the 31-year-old in January.

El Desmarque reports that Valverde is desperate to strengthen Barca’s attack that has been depleted due to the constant injuries of Dembele, who is now ruled out until mid-February after suffering a thigh injury during the club’s Champions League clash against his former club Borussia Dortmund.

Valverde looks to bring Willian to Camp Nou for the 2020-21 season, but by agreeing to a contract next month, Chelsea could instead look to sell the South American in January itself.

Willian has had an incredible spell with the Blues, having scored 57 goals along with providing 58 assists in 317 appearances, and has recently revealed his desires of a long-term commitment at Chelsea with the 31-year-old insisting his future lies in Chelsea’s hands.  However, his recent ommissions from Chelsea’s endeavors under Frank Lampard has made Willian reevaluate his decisions.
