One of the main targets of Barcelona is likely to prefer Real Madrid if the two Spanish giants end up tussling for his signatures in the summer.

Juventus made a massive statement in the summer as they managed to land the incredible Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax Amsterdam. Winning the race for the young central defender was crucial for the Old Lady of Turin, who was battling versus the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain for his signatures.

Matthijs de Ligt’s transfer fee was thought to be worth 75 million euros with 15 million euros more in variables, while he is being paid 10 million euros annually by the Serie A giants. However, it is fair to say that de Ligt has been far from the player he was with his former side and could be on the move again, as reported by Diario GOL.

Giorgio Chiellini has been diagnosed with an ACL injury and thus has been placed on the treatment table for possibly the entire season. Leonardo Bonucci is anchoring the defence, but Matthijs de Ligt has not been a worthy enough partner and has apparently lost Maurizio Sarri’s trust, thereby falling behind Merih Demiral in the pecking order as well.

Barcelona are reportedly keen on signing Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus next summer after being made aware of the fact that the Italians will be listening to offers for the Dutchman while his stock is high. The Catalans are of the opinion that bringing the former Ajax Amsterdam captain to the Camp Nou next to his friend de Jong will do wonders.

However, de Ligt is apparently interested in moving to Real Madrid instead of the Camp Nou. The Whites are seeking replacements for Sergio Ramos since Nacho and Eder Militao have both proven frail of late and so, de Ligt could be a super signing for them given his aerial and physical abilities, as well as his eye for scoring goals.
