Lionel Messi has been left fuming at the latest transfer call made by Barcelona with regards to signing Luis Suarez’s replacement.

Luis Suarez has been absolutely lethal for Barcelona over the last five years on an almost consistent basis, but within a few days, the Uruguay international will turn 33 years old. There is no doubt that the former Liverpool striker is still one of the best players in his position, but his club needs to bring in a replacement before it is too late.

As a matter of fact, Suarez has himself confessed that he is reaching the twilight of his career and needs replacing. The last two and a half seasons have seen the forward show an incremental rate of slowing down and even though he has popped up with some sensational performances at times, he has failed when it matters most more often than not.

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has been shortlisted as the prime successor to Luis Suarez by the Blaugrana. The Argentina international has been superb for Antonio Conte’s side this season and not to mention, he enjoyed a good time at the Copa America last summer in what earned him a regular place in the national team.

Barca’s board has reportedly approached Lautaro Martinez’s entourage over a probable transfer during the summer besides having a word with the player’s parent club. The status of the transfer seems hot at the moment and the Catalans seem to be interested in signing Martinez despite his huge price tag of 110 million euros.

While most things are going really well regarding a likely move, Lionel Messi has become angry with the rate at which the Blaugrana have decided to scrap out Luis Suarez, Diario GOL has reported. Messi and Suarez share a fantastic relationship on and off the pitch, with the former believing that the Uruguayan is still an untouchable member of the squad.

Some of Suarez’s displays this year and especially over the last month have been top notch, but it’s high time that the Catalans bring in a substitute for him with his contract ending in June 2021. At this point in time, it doesn’t look like Messi’s urging would help and by the looks of it, Barca would have signed their man within a few months’ time.
