City wants to find a replacement for Sergio Aguero and United believe Martinez would be a good complement to Marcus Rashford.
Given Rashford’s injury, Martinez could also lead the line for the Red Devils.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Martinez has said that he is happy at Inter and must be doing something right to be rumored with a move to big sides.
As for Barcelona, the club are studying whether to find a replacement for Luis Suarez now or wait until the summer.
The Uruguayan recently underwent surgery which leaves him out for the rest of the season.
The Catalans played their first match without him in a 1-0 win against Granada where his absence was noticeable.
Despite the criticism that comes his way, there is no denying that Barcelona look a much more dangerous attack with him in it. His connection with Lionel Messi on the pitch is crucial as well as the space he generates for those around him.
Lautaro Martinez burst onto the scene this season with Inter and has developed a strong partnership with Romelu Lukaku. He’s scored 10 goals in 19 games with Inter so far this season.
Inter reportedly want €111 million for the striker. With the money and draw of the Premier League, the Manchester clubs may be more willing to pay that fee than the Blaugrana.
The hope is that Martinez may be drawn to playing with Lionel Messi and can convince Inter to let him join the club.
Barca knew that they were going to face competition for Martinez from top teams. But they need to find a replacement for Luis Suarez. A task now made much more difficult.
