Barcelona will look to get the better of Arsenal and Bayern Munich this summer as they hope to close-in on a bright European prospect.

Barcelona are set to hand Quique Setien a handsome budget for the upcoming summer to sign players and one of his main objectives would be to recruit a right full back. Currently, Sergi Roberto has been handed the role, but him as well as Nelson Semedo have been a let down to be honest, making it a high time that some long-term solution is brought in.

More from Everything Barca

Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich was the Catalans’ primary option, but with the Bavarians looking like they might pass up on the opportunity to sign Philippe Coutinho permanently, the Germany international’s arrival into the Camp Nou looks like an expensive project, and more so for Barca who are operating on a tight budget.

Football London has claimed that having appointed Quique Setien, the Blaugrana will not look to pursue bigger names like Ricardo Pereira or Joshua Kimmich and will hope to sign RB Leipzig’s budding superstar Dayot Upamecano. The 21 year old is one of the brightest prospects from the Bundesliga and will definitely be a welcome addition to the club.

Dayot Upamecano came into prominence when RB Leipzig’s sister club in RB Salzburg had him in their roster, but his move to Germany has only gone on to show that he is much better than earlier thought during his time in Austria. Upamecano has become a regular in Leipzig and has played an instrumental role in guiding them to the top of the league.

Apart from the La Liga toppers, Arsenal and Bayern Munich have also shown interest in signing the youngster who has been valued at 25 million pounds. Whether the player himself is currently interested in leaving Leipzig or if he has a preferred destination is not yet know, but wherever he goes, his versatility will certainly be a huge asset as well.

Do you think Upamecano would be able to answer the Catalans’ problems at right-back?
