Barcelona’s desperate attempt to sign an immediate replacement for Luis Suarez has led the club to make an € 80 million for Monaco’s striker.

Foot Mercato reports that Barcelona have made an official bid for the French striker, Wissam Ben Yedder, as they look for a back up for their injured Uruguayan.

Suarez has been ruled out for four months following his knee surgery after the Spanish Super Cup loss to Atletico Madrid. The club have been struggling ever since as they lack the goal threat provided by a proper no. 9.

This has forced the Catalan side to look for an immediate solution with many big names linked with the club. Reports now claim that this desperation has led to the bid of €80 million ( £67 million) lodged for Ben Yedder.

The 29-year-old has been in great form this season, scoring 15 goals in 23 matches, and the report claims that Barca are planning to bring the Frenchman as a short-term replacement to fix the attacking issues.

The Striker had only recently joined Monaco for a fee of €40 million (£33 million) from Sevilla, and as such the French side are demanding double the transfer fee as they are aware of Barca’s desperation.

Daily Mail claims that Blaugrana are impressed by the player’s La Liga days with Sevilla and his current form with Monaco has convinced them to make an official bid. The report claims that Blaugrana officials have met with Monaco representatives and Ben Yedder’s agent, however, the Ligue 1 side are reluctant of parting ways with their star player this month.
