Barcelona’s relentless hunt for a Luis Suarez replacement has led to Arsenal preparing to accept an official bid as club captain rejects contract renewal offer.

With the January transfer window ending within a week, Arsenal are now considering to accept an official bid from Barcelona for club superstar,  Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The asking price, however, is said to cause some trouble in finalizing the deal.

Barca’s desperation to sign a new striker has linked many big names to the club, including Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Valencia’s Rodrigo Moreno.

Aubameyang remains a top target despite coach Mikel Arteta’s desire to keep the striker until the end of the season. Arsenal’s Brazilian striker Gabriel Martinelli’s current form is said to help the Catalan side to convince the Gunners to part ways with their aging star.

The 30-year-old has only 18 months remaining in his current contract and with no intention of signing an extended renewal with the London club, the Gabon international may look to the Nou Camp as his next destination after revealing his intentions of playing in the Champions League.

According to the Telegraph, the Spanish club are worried about a potential £50 million asking price for the 30-year-old despite his contract expiration, as Arsenal are well aware of the Catalan side’s desperation.

The Spanish champions will continue their pursuit for a replacement striker in the January transfer to aid Quique Setien’s squad in the absence of Luis Suarez.
