Liverpool and Chelsea target hints at likely Barcelona transfer

One of the hottest prospects of the January transfer window, RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, does not rule out the idea of joining Barcelona in the future.

Barcelona were desperately looking for an immediate replacement for their injured Uruguayan, Luis Suarez, during the January transfer window. Timo Werner was among the list of strikers linked with a move to the Nou Camp.

Despite signing a new four-year contract with RB Leipzig, the German international’s future still remains a hot topic with many clubs like  Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid, all interested in the talented striker.

The 23-year-old has managed to score 25 goals in 28 appearances this season, and is enjoying himself in Bundesliga. However, this has not stopped the teenager speculated his future abroad.

"“I can imagine playing abroad at some point, but there’s no specific place will go. I’m open to everything. When I was on holiday in America, English football was on all the time. But there are also very well-known and big teams in Spain where it would for sure be fun to play.” Werner told KickerSource AS"

Werner is well aware of the fact that he Is a highly demanded striker and claims that the overwhelming amount of interests from many European giants is not hindering his focus with Leipzig,

"“When you have scored 20 goals this season so far at the age of 23, you obviously attract interest. But at the moment, I’m not thinking about what will happen in the future. We [Leipzig] are now facing important matches that will be decisive for the rest of the season. That’s what I want to concentrate on. I’ll think about my future at a later point in time.”"

Many Barca fans enjoy the idea of someone like Werner joining the club as he is among the very few names linked during the January transfer window who was of the right age to play as a long-term replacement to the inevitable departure of Suarez.
